In order to record the century-long project of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Zeng Pingbiao began to collect information from 200 to 200, and interviewed successively since 2012. He spent more than five years to visit 130 Komiks people, and went to Beijing, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to conduct in-depth interviews with key figures such as plan designers, project managers, bridge builders, etc. “I remember that the background information and interview materials I collected were filled with a whole bag.” In 2009, the State Council officially approved the “Hengqin Overall Development Plan”, including Hengqin Island in the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone, and the first demonstration zone to explore a new model of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao cooperation under the “one country, two systems” stood out. Zeng Pingbiao became Hengqin’s “walking observer” and he paid attention to the changes in Hengqin. “I first stepped on Hengqin Island. I went on a boat. There were banana forests and vines. The residents were mainly farmers and fishermen on the island. The highest floor was only 8 floors. In 2019, Hengqin’s GDP grew by an average of 68.32% annually, and the utilization of foreign capital increased by an average of 136.35% annually.” Zeng Pingbiao recalled.
